bio: doug bixler

Who are you?

Why? Are you here to send me back?

Back where?

...uhh, never mind, no where. My name is Doug.

How long have you been doing this thing that you do?

Just about a quarter century.

First things first... Mac or PC?

I've used Macs for over 20 years. Not sure why anyone likes using Windows... Every time I have to help someone with a problem on their PC, the solution seems so archaic.

If you were shrunk down to 2 inches tall and put in a blender, how would you get out?

It's funny that you asked me that... It all started during the Bush Administration, the first Bush...

But honestly if I were shrunk down to 2 inches tall that would mean that my molecules had shrunken proportionately as well which then means that I should be able to use "molecular cohesion" and Spider-Man crawl out of there.

What is your favorite application to use for designing?

Adobe Illustrator. It has the most control to design pretty much any kind of material you need and no matter what is made it is resolution independent!

Your work experience seems fairly overarching. On purpose or by chance?

Completely on purpose.  Every career move I have made has been very calculated for a variety of reasons. With each new move I have tried to add to my skill set to make myself better as a designer and as a professional.  I try to make sure that I am as valuable an asset as possible wherever I am.

Is that important to you?

I am a complete geek when it comes to assimilating new knowledge in everything that interests me. I can lose hours of my life researching things to death to become as close to an expert as possible on the subject material.

So what interests you?

Technology of all kinds however I gravitate towards Apple products, automobiles, movies, comic books, video games, politics and spending time with my family.

Tell us about your family...

Well... they are the reason behind everything I do in life.  My beautiful wife, Cassandra, and I have been married for over a dozen years. Our only child, Benjamin, a teenager, and has more ambitions in life so far than I have had in my entire life combined.  We are extremely blessed for him to have that much ambition. Around the age of 4, Ben was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, which means he is on the Autism Spectrum. While he does have his difficulties with certain aspects of life that many take for granted, he doesn't let it slow him down. Oh, I can't forget to mention our cats!

Wow, Ben sounds really inspiring!

You should see his dance moves.  He has been doing competitive ballroom & latin dancing for about 4 years.

I think we will leave it right there for now. Thank you for your time today!
